Fylix: Intelligent Chatbots

Intelligent chatbot development, with national and enterprise deployments reported in the UM Research Bulletin.

Project overview

Fylix is a Universiti Malaya spin-off company co-founded by Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Aznul Qalid Md Sabri, the Head of Malaya AIR. The company develops intelligent chatbot systems, with national and enterprise deployments reported in the UM Research Bulletin, and it showcased its Smart Light Detection System at MY AI NEXUS. Fylix is one of two routes through which research associated with the centre reaches commercial deployment, alongside UMCH Technology. Its work sits close to the centre's natural language processing research: conversational systems have to handle the same questions of intent, ambiguity and multilingual input that Malaya AIR studies academically, but under the reliability and response time constraints of live organisational use.

Why this work matters

Deployed systems surface failure modes that benchmarks do not. Running conversational AI in national and enterprise settings gives the underlying research a source of evidence about where methods hold up, which is difficult to obtain from datasets alone.
