Overview
Research here covers computational intelligence methods and the optimisation problems underneath machine learning: particle swarm optimisation and its variants, fuzzy inference under uncertainty, model pruning and efficiency, and early action recognition where a decision must be made before a sequence completes. These methods support other areas of the centre directly. Fuzzy modelling appears in the medical segmentation work, and swarm methods appear in multi-robot coordination.
